Accreditations
All these boilers are passed to burn virgin wood, waste wood and straw. The emissions have been tested and recorded as required by OFGEM for accreditation to the RHI by a competent, registered laboratory.
Dragon D6 | 50kW | Wood, waste wood (with U4 exemption) |
Dragon D8 | 75kW | Wood, waste wood (with U4 exemption) |
Dragon D10 | 99kW | Wood, waste wood (with U4 exemption) |
Dragon D12 | 112kW | Wood, waste wood (with U4 exemption) |
Dragon D15 | 150kW | Wood, waste wood (with U4 exemption) |
Dragon D220 | 220kW | Wood, waste wood (with U4 exemption), straw |
Dragon D240 | 240kW | Wood, waste wood (with U4 exemption), straw |
Dragon D270 | 270kW | Wood, waste wood (with local authority permissions), straw round/sq bales |
Dragon D330 | 330kW | Wood, waste wood (with local authority permissions), straw round bales |
Dragon D370 | 370kW | Wood, waste wood (with local authority permissions), straw round bales |
Dragon D370 (50) | 370kW | Wood, waste wood (with local authority permissions), straw round/hesston bales |
All these boilers up to the D240 are allowed to burn waste wood under a U4 exemption (and claim the RHI) Larger boilers may require different local authority approvals depending on the grade of waste wood. Please follow the link below.
Emissions and Legislations
Check with your local authority that you are not in a smoke controlled zone.
Currently, the most important rule on installations under 400 kW, is that the smoke must not be a nuisance. When burning damp fuel such a straw, the moisture has to be driven off as white steam. This type of smoke is allowed for approximately 20 minutes after re-loading until water temeprature is restored. Smoke will be reduced by fitting an accumulator tank.
When burning waste wood or pallets, you will need to complete a U4 exemption from the Environment Agency which will allow you to burn your waste product. The U4 allows you to burn at up to 50kg per hour which is approximately a 240 kW Dragon.
The U4 application can be done online
